What We’re Doing

The Gunbarrel Highway Challenge & The 1 to 1 Laptops For Learning Program

Here at Otford Public School we have a dream. We want to provide our students with the latest computer technology, to enable us to teach in a way that engages 21st century learners and supports the latest educational research.

To make this a reality, we are seeking sponsorship to raise money for the purchase of laptop computers.

In July 2008, a group of teachers and parents from Otford are planning to cycle 1500km along the Gunbarrel Highway, a corrugated dirt track stretching from Wiluna in central Western Australia to Uluru in the Red Centre.

We’d like you to consider sponsoring our ride, and to assist you, we have different levels of sponsorship available.

Gold level has numerous advertising benefits and involves sponsoring our group of riders for $1 per km. Gold level represents a $1500 commitment, which will fund one laptop computer.

Silver level provides you with certain advertising opportunities and requires you to sponsor our riders for 10c per km. This totals $150 in sponsorship.

Bronze level is recognised with a certificate of appreciation and asks that you sponsor the group for 1c per km, equating to a $15 contribution.

However, should you wish to contribute at an even higher level than gold, a platinum level has been created. Platinum sponsors are asked to pledge $5000. At this level of sponsorship, your business will be advertised at every opportunity.

As a school community, we are deeply committed to providing our children with the best in education and evidence around the world indicates that 1 to 1 laptop programs significantly improve learning.
